Weekly update 26- 30 November 2018
Dear Parents,
This was a very productive and interactive week. Students shared timelines on how technology has changed over time, the reasons therefor and how new technological inventions aids us to learn and communicate better, easier and more effectively. Students watched video's of and discussed the latest invention in the world, this lead to deeper inquiries of advantages and disadvantages of modern technology.
Students have been creating their devices for the future in the class, it seems like we have some future scientists and inventors brewing in grade 2.
We felt it fit to integrate Digital Citizenship for this weeks ICT lesson in a collaborative and fun manner. Eight QR codes were hidden in the classroom, students were requested to search for them. Once they were found students scanned the QR codes by independently finding the QR scanner App on the I-pads. The QR codes took students to several different videos about Digital Citizenship, such as be kind online, tell an adult, personal information, what is the internet?
Students then applied some summarizing skills taught in English to jot down the main ideas for group sharing and presentations.
Ms.Sharon our school nurse came to speak with students on personal hygiene and self-care. Students had fun with the interactive games and sharing of ideas. Ms. Sharon will continue next week with another lesson on self-control, making good decisions, being kind and caring towards others.
Drop everything and read Friday!
Enjoy the weekend.
