What a busy week we had! firstly I'd like to thank all parents for your generous contribution towards our fundraising week, it was a HUGE success!!! We Made N$ 3538.
This week kicked off with our grade 2 students confidently and happily taking their MAP tests for Math. One of the benefits of using i-pads as a learning tool in the class is that students become comfortable and confident when working with them.
For further inquiry into our unit, we had a few interactive guests for a wellness day share their knowledge and expertise about wellbeing with the students. The students had fun making authentic connections to real life activities about keeping well, they discovered physical, mental, social, and emotional factors that all contribute to their wellbeing. The excitement extended to home as students shared stories of how they are striking a balance for their well-being by encouraging parents to serve and pack balanced meals! The discussions led to talks about the food pyramid and making informed choices about our lives. We are glad to note all the things parents are doing to keep themselves well, amongst them are eating healthy, exercising and resting and sleeping well.
In math, we are consolidating and getting to know numbers, and the value thereof (number sense) to build up a base for future reference when they are solving Mathematical problems. They were identifying patterns within the Hundreds chart. and used the 10 base, place value to gain a better concept of numbers and their values.
