Weekly Newsletter 10th-14th September

Dear Parents,

In Literacy, students learned about making connections to understand their reading. Ask them about the 3 types of connections that good readers use and how they made connections to our class reader Charlotte's Web. They worked on word creation for homework this week, I trust they were able to do this activity. This activity help students to build the vocabulary by unscrambling the letters to make1 letter, 2 letter, 3 letter, 4 letter words and eventually they discover the secret word. The secret this week was swings/wings.

Students did words sorts, this is an activity where each student receives their leveled words.
They then do closed and opening sorting of the words and explain to a partner why they have
sorted their words in a certain way.
Ms. Sinead and I rotate through groups to observe understanding, correct misconceptions and introduce new patterns found in words e.g CVC/ CVVC/CVCE  etc
